"DYSGU, CHWARAE, CHWERTHIN"
Welcome to our website. Our school is situated in Lisvane, a village on the outskirts of Cardiff - the capital city of Wales. The name Llysfaen comes from the Welsh "llys" meaning court and "faen" (or "maen") meaning stone. It originates from the stone court that once stood on the "Graig" hill overlooking the village.

Our school has extensive grounds including a sensory garden, meadow, jungle garden and a brand new "Reduce-Reuse-Recycle" garden. We look after our environment by composting and recycling. We are currently working towards our Green Flag and Healthy Schools Award.
Did you know that there has been a school in Lisvane since 1913? Originally it catered for 60 children from the surrounding farms and countryside. The ‘old school’ still exists as a Community Centre in the village and the present school was opened in 1967.

Plans are underway to provide Nursery Education at Llysfaen Primary School from September 2010. The LEA have also drawn up plans to remove the existing demountables and provide 8 junior classrooms in an extension to the present permanent building.

Tesco and Sainbury's Vouchers |

We are now collecting Sainbury's sports vouchers and Tesco computers for schools vouchers. Through these schemes we have, in the past, received school kits, digital cameras, software, goal posts as well as many other essential resources. Any vouchers would be greatly received and can be handed into the office or given to the teachers.

| During the Spring Term 2009, we were visited by Estyn Inspectors. We are absolutely delighted with our report and really proud of the staff, pupils, governors and everybody who is involved in making Llysfaen Primary an "outstanding " school.
