Llysfaen Primary School

NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE

Over the last few months we have been developing a new school website with the Cardiff Advisory Team. As you can imagine it is taking a long time to transfer photographs from our gallery. We were hoping to launch the new site at the start of the Spring Term but the Advisory Team have been incredibly busy.

Due to our workload for the new site we have decided not to update our existing site so we do apologise for any information which isn't current.

We are hoping to launch our new site by the end of February so watch this space........!
Llysfaen Primary School 2010

WELCOME BACK!! Croeso- Welcome to our website

"LEARN, PLAY, LAUGH"

"DYSGU, CHWARAE, CHWERTHIN"

Our school is situated in Lisvane, a village on the outskirts of Cardiff - the capital city of Wales. The name Llysfaen comes from the Welsh "llys" meaning court and "faen" (or "maen") meaning stone.

Did you know that there has been a school in Lisvane since 1913? Originally it catered for 60 children from the surrounding farms and countryside and the ‘old school’ still exists as a Community Centre in the village and the present school was opened in 1967.

We have just opened our brand new nursery catering for 24 children in the morning and 24 children in the afternoon.
The LEA have also drawn up plans to remove the existing demountables and provide 8 junior classrooms in an extension to the present permanent building - to be revealed September 2011!

We are proud owners of an Eco-Schools GREEN FLAG!

Llysfaen Primary School are jumping with joy as we are now proud oweners of an Eco-School's Green Flag!

The assessors were 'very impressed by the whole school's enthusiasm for the Eco-School's programme'. They reported that Llysfaen Primary School is 'a fantastic, inspiring Eco School where the concept and ethos of the Eco-Schools programme has been thoroughly adopted by the whole school'

'The pupils displayed great pride in their achievements'

'The way that all pupils and staff have been involved in the programme and have ownership of achievements is excellent!'

They 'loved the Eco-Rap that everyone sang with pride and a lot of energy'.

Our school was 'recorded grade A for litter, litter free!'
